The importance of the Community Builder: This is Roger Calavera’s experience
If anyone has CREC Coworking in his blood, it’s Roger Calavera. Our CREC Poble Sec Community Builder -and the youngest of the team- has known coworking since he was a child. Now, he is the person in charge of welcoming all the new coworkers to the community of our space in Blesa street, doing the CREC Connect interviews and making sure that nothing is missing in any vermouth!
‘The point person that coworkers have in the space and can go to for anything. Our team of Community Builders makes the difference”
For Roger, who has been working at CREC Coworking for 2 years now, Community Builder is “the reference person that coworkers have in the space and who they can turn to for anything. Our team of Community Builders makes the difference,” he says. According to him, the interaction with coworkers brings us to a point where they are not clients and become “coworkers“.
In addition to being a natural environment technician, one of Roger’s passions, he went to live in England for seven months to perfect his English and work outside his comfort zone. There he worked as a bartender in a hotel in the town of Bournemouth.
“I have the utmost confidence that the CREC project will go far, and I see myself as a participant. We have a very strong team that does a good job”
Our Community Builder highlights that one of the things he likes most about CREC is seeing how coworkers’ projects grow thanks to CREC Connect and the work of CBs. “No one knows our community like we Community Builders do“, he says.
He also believes that the CREC project will grow more and more and adds: “I am very confident that the CREC project will go very far, and I see myself participating in it. We have a very strong team that is doing a good job.
“CREC Connect is our project in capital letters and what differentiates the CREC brand. We are not just any coworking space, our goal is to make both freelancers and companies that trust us grow”
Roger defines himself as a cheerful, empathetic and approachable person, and he is a very friendly CB! As he points out: “I’m different from other CBs because of the good vibes I have with coworkers, I’m very close and I’m not ashamed to talk to anyone!”
That’s why one of his favorite things is CREC Connect, and he defines it as follows: “CREC Connect is our project in capital letters and the one that differentiates the CREC brand. We are not just any coworking space, our goal is to make both freelancers and companies that trust us grow. That is why one of our values is collaboration and cooperation. We like to deal personally with our community, to know how they are doing, to ask them how everything is going on a professional and personal level“, he says.
“It’s always sad when coworkers who have been at CREC for a long time leave. As I said before, they are almost like coworkers and sometimes it’s hard not to run into them on a daily basis”
Goodbyes are hard for Roger. But for him, the fact that coworkers are no longer part of the community is not an impediment to staying in touch with it. In fact, he makes an appeal to Bruno Schiavi of Spot Locations: “Bruno, if you read this, we have a beer to go!”.
“It’s always a shame when coworkers who have been with CREC for a long time leave. As I’ve said before, they’re almost like coworkers and sometimes it gets hard not running into them day to day…Except if they have wings and use our space 24/7!” Roger still remembers that week when a pigeon snuck into CREC Poble Sec and there was no way to get it out.
“It’s a very nice project, and we have more and more opportunities and more ideas that, we hope, will be very well liked”
When our Community Builder talks about the future of CREC he says, speaking badly, that it will be “La hostia!”. He also affirms that CREC will be one of the reference coworkings in the city of Barcelona and in all Catalonia, since “It’s a very nice project, and we have more and more opportunities and more ideas that (we hope) we like a lot”.
Roger also emphasizes that he would like to continue growing in CREC, as he has done these two years, and continue to meet new people and projects.
You’re already late to go to Poble Sec to tell him about yours!
